LED Flat Panels can last up to 50,000 hours, or over nine years of regular use. LED Panels are designed to be a low maintenance and much more energy-efficient replacement to fluorescent troffers, providing better lumen output with less wattage while also lasting longer. This key difference makes LED panels much lighter (easier to install with 1 person) and more versatile as the thin profile can fit into tight spaces where a troffer may not fit. With no ballast and no extra space needed for fluorescent bulbs, you will also notice that LED panel lights are much thinner in depth compared to fluorescent troffers. Therefore no hinged lens door is needed for bulb access keeping the lens free of bugs and debris like you would commonly find in fluorescent troffers! LED panels on the other hand utilize integrated LED chips to produce light which last the life of the fixture (some last up to 100,000 hours or more!!). Troffers were the original fixture which used fluorescent tube bulbs, ballasts, and lamp holders and has a hinged lens door for bulb access. LED Panels and Troffers accomplish the same end goal but have some differences between the two products. What is the difference between LED Panels and Troffers? Panels and troffers evenly distribute light to provide glare-free lighting to reduce eye strain and are great for schools, offices hospitals, and retail space. They can be mounted in multiple ways depending on your needs including suspension-mounted and surface-mounted. Flat Panels and troffers are installed by removing the current ceiling panel and wiring into the power source. Panels and Troffers are LED lighting solutions that replace fluorescent fixtures in drop ceilings.
